South Dakota Educators

As a teacher in South Dakota you are required to complete 6 semester hours of college credit every 5 years to renew your educator license. At least 3 of those hours must be verified on an official college transcript. The remaining 3 credits can be obtained through Continuing Education Units (CEU). One CEU is equal to 15 contact hours of professional development.

You may now be able to earn 1 contact hour of professional development credit for every Flinn Scientific Best Practices for Teaching Chemistry eLearning Video Series package that you complete. Please contact your district or administrator first if they require pre-approval for professional development activities.

Once you have finished viewing all episodes of a video package, simply print and complete the post activity assessment form below to keep with your records. You may then select a video package from the dropdown box below and print a Documentation of Professional Development form. Note: You will only be able to print a documentation form for any video that you have watched in its entirety.

You may also consult your state Department of Education website for any details or changes in certificate renewal policy. http://doe.sd.gov/

To view and print the Documentation of Professional Development for a video package, you must be logged in.
